The Facts

Flock cameras turn communities into sweeping surveillance zones in which thousands of innocent residents are constantly monitored, eroding trust and privacy. Dragnet (The term derives from a fishing technique of dragging a fishing net across the sea bottom, or through a promising area of open water) surveillance supresses free speech, enables discriminatory profiling, and erodes the fundamental rights of our citizens presumption of innocence by treating every citizen as a potential suspect.

You're not a suspect until you are

Flock cameras scan EVERY car, not just the ones that are suspected of crime. This creates a searchable database of your life. This flips the presumption of innocence on its head.

Reported Misuse

While Flock promises their cameras are meant for "violent crime and missing persons", they are easily abused and misuse is often observed. See citations for ICE utilization and police led stalking cases (officer was sentenced to 18 months probation).

Billionare funded Surveillance

Flock is a private monopoly with no public oversight. Instead of funding public safety initiatives, taxpayer money is funneled into a private company's profits. This isn't a "start up", this is a billionare funded government surveillance state.

Data Breach Risk

Flock cameras store vast amounts of personal data, making them a prime target for hackers. Flock has experienced public data leaks before. These devices are incredibly easy to hack as shown in the research report. They've publicly stated they are unwilling to fix the security issues.

[Data Exposed Finding] [Security Research Paper] [Flock's Response]

Flock is dishonest

Flock safety is dishonest about the retention of images and videos on their cameras. Research shows that images are stored far longer than what is claimed in their contracts and public advertising material.
